I have a relative who loves going around saying, “Well, it must be nice…” and then proceeds to passive-aggressively point out some luxury that I have that she doesn’t have. Eventually, I figured out that the correct response is “Oh, it is!’
And usually I’m being aggressively complimented on something nice that I have through hard work, careful planning or (in the case of some bigger items) the death of my parents. Nothing is nicer than the love from your family, though, huh? Unless, of course, they’re complaining about crap you have that they don’t.
